Driffield is a market town in the East Riding of Yorkshire, known as the capital of the Wolds, roughly 20 miles south of Scarborough. We work across the town and the surrounding villages of Nafferton and Hutton Cranswick.
The town grew around its Thursday market and the Riverhead, where the Driffield Navigation opened in 1770 and brought mills, warehouses and granaries to the canal head. Much of that Georgian and Victorian centre survives, with the northern part of town covered by the Driffield (North) Conservation Area, and All Saints church, Grade I listed, carrying one of the tallest church towers in Yorkshire. Older brick townhouses and terraces in the centre, and newer estates on the edges, mean the approach to an extension or renovation here depends a lot on which side of town the house is on.
